1. What We Do |
1.1 What is TRANSLATED?
TRANSLATED is a human translation and localization service for text, software and web sites. The translations are done by native-speaker professional translators and never with automatic translation software.
1.2 Can you translate my website?
Certainly, and we can work directly in the source code of your website, whether it's XML, HTML, ASP, PHP or any web format. We can also translate inside your RDBMS: Oracle, MySQL, SqlServer, etc. Upon request we can also put the website files online at your hosting facility, ready for navigation.
1.3 What can you translate?
We translate from practically any electronic or printed format, including the following: Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel®, Publisher®, QuarkXpress®, FrameMaker®, Illustrator®, PageMaker®, TXT, HTML, PHP, ASP, CGI, JSP, C, Perl, Visual Basic®, Delphi®, RES, Oracle® RDBMS/applications, DB2®, Informix®, MySQL, Postgres, Access®, SQL Server®, etc. No technical configuration is too complex for us to translate.
1.4 Do you work with companies or private individuals?
Most of our requests come from companies, but we often work with private individuals and are happy to help them with their translation needs.
1.5 Is it possible to maintain the page layout?
We guarantee the document's original layout and format. Where possible, we work on the original document by writing over the text without changing the style and format.
1.6 Are you certified with any translation associations?
Our translators belong to the worlds major translation associations such as ATA (USA), ATC (UK), NAATI (Australia), ATIO / ATIA (Canada), OMT (Mexico), AATI (Argentina), ATN / APTS (Arabic language), APROTRAD (France), AITI (Italy), ASETRAD (Spain), JAT (Japan), FAT (Sweden), to name just a few. We can produce certified and sworn translations in almost any country in the world.
1.7 Can you provide certified translations of certificates?
We can provide certified translations of birth certificates, marriage certificates, drivers licenses, high school and university diplomas, or any other official government or institutional certificate. A native-language professional translator with an expertise in certificates will create a translation in the same format as the original and we will provide a signed letter certifying the accuracy of the translation. For a fast turnaround, please and upload your document or a zip file or more than one document, and we will send you a confirmation by email that your project has been started.

3. Delivery Dates and Turnaround Time |
3.1 When will the job be delivered?
Obviously, this depends on the length. To give you an example, these are our average delivery times:
 up to 500 words - 6 hours
 1,000 to 2,000 words - 36 hours
more than 2,000 words - 1,500 words per day.
For rush jobs you tell us when you need it! Try changing the delivery date in our online estimate tool.
3.2 Can you translate a 1,000 page manual in 5 days?
Yes. When it is not necessary to maintain a consistent style we can manage up to 20 simultaneous translators all working on the same document to reduce the delivery time. In the past we have managed projects that required an output of 50,000 words per day (approximately 200 pages per day)
4 Payments |
4.1 How can I pay?
We accept the following methods of payment:
Major credit cards on secure server.
 Wire Transfer.
4.2 When do I need to pay?
Private individuals are asked to pay within 5 days of delivery of the translated document unless otherwise specified. Corporate customers pay on corporate billing cycles.
When you receive your translation you will also receive an invoice with all the information for making the payment.
We normally request an advance payment for new customers with orders over $100.

5 Guarantees |
5.1 What guarantees do I have regarding quality?
First of all it is important to note that TRANSLATED works exclusively with native-speaker professional translators. Since we are Internet-based we have access to many more qualified translators than any traditional agency.
However, we offer two guarantees on quality. The first is explicit and is specified in the sales conditions.
The second is implicit but more convincing: payment is deferred. This means that you pay for the job only after you have seen it.
5.2 What guarantees do I have regarding deadlines?
TRANSLATED guarantees that deadlines will be respected. Read the sales conditions for more details.
5.3 What procedures do you use for confidentiality?
6. How do I...? |
6.1 How can I send you a document?
6.2 Can I get an estimate for a printed document?
Just send us the document by fax, specify the languages and your personal information (telephone numbers, e-mail, address, company details, etc.) and you will receive an estimate within the hour.
6.3 How can I count the words in my document?
If the document is in Microsoft® Word® use the " Word Count" function in the Word® Tools menu. Just send us this figure. Otherwise, if the document is in another format (printed, html, php, asp, etc.) you can send us the file by e-mail or fax and we will count the words for you and quickly send you an estimate.
6.4 How can I send a file that is bigger than 2.5 Mb?
We accept e-mail files up to 5 Megabytes. However, we can set up a very fast FTP access for sending and receiving bigger files.
7. Security |
7.1 What is a secure server?
Secure server refers to the possibility of exchanging data between two computers using an encrypted connection. TRANSLATED uses secure servers for two different services: For guaranteeing credit card transactions. For exchanging confidential documents. Both servers use 128 bit encryption, which is the maximum degree of security possible at the present time.

8. Other |
8.1 What is localization?
Localization (also known as L10n) is the process of modifying a product (software, website and relevant documentation) for an audience in a different country, culture, or region of the world. Localization is more than translation because it involves cultural adaptation and requires knowledge of the local culture. Localization may also require changes to the software product itself, above and beyond language translation.
8.1 What is globalization?
Globalization or internationalization is the act of (re)designing a document or software product for general markets beyond the boundaries of one nation, not considering adaptation for a specific cultural/legal locale. If you are taking your product to another country, you need to consider both internationalization and localization.
